ZOO Fans Successfully Completes Litigation

Zoo Fans is pleased to announce the successful completion of its multi-year litigation with Avedon and Airius! Zoo Fans filed the lawsuit in 2010 seeking a declaration from the Court that Zoo Fans had not misappropriated Avedon’s trade secrets or infringed its patent when Zoo Fans introduced its revolutionary air destratification fan. In the litigation, Avedon counterclaimed and sought millions of dollars in damages, accusing Zoo Fans of patent infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets and breach of contract. The jury and judge rejected those claims and specifically found that Zoo Fans and Mr. Benton did not breach any contract, did not infringe Avedon’s patent and did not misappropriate any of Avedon or Airius’ intellectual property or trade secrets. Avedon had originally sought more than $40 million in damages from Zoo Fans. After hearing all of the evidence, the jury awarded less than $40,000.
